NurseLedger

Initial Dev

A pay calculator built specifically for US nurses. Shift differentials, travel stipends, PRN waivers, and all 14 pay categories in one place.

The Friction

Nursing pay is complicated and most nurses have no reliable way to verify what they actually earned on a shift.

The Solution

NurseLedger models every variable in a nursing contract, from 14 pay categories to 70+ parameters, so you get a number you can actually trust.

My wife is an RN with eight years of experience. She still could not tell you exactly what she earned on any given shift without opening a spreadsheet she built herself.

That is the problem NurseLedger solves.

Nursing pay is not just base rate times hours. It is a stack of variables that most calculators completely ignore: night differentials, weekend premiums, charge nurse pay, certification bonuses, travel stipends, PRN waivers, and overtime rules that change depending on your state and your contract type.

Most nurses just trust that their paycheck is right. Many find out it is not when they finally sit down and do the math themselves.

What NurseLedger does

It handles all 14 pay categories that make up a modern nursing contract. You put in your contract details and your hours and it gives you a number you can verify against your actual paycheck.

For travel nurses it gets more specific: tax-free stipend calculations, 13-week contract logic, and PRN floating schedules are all handled separately because they should be.

The calculation engine runs entirely on device. No network calls for math. Your pay information stays on your phone.

Who it is for

Staff RNs who want to understand their paycheck. PRN nurses juggling multiple facilities. Travel nurses trying to compare contracts. New grads who have no idea what half their pay stub means yet.

If you are a nurse in the US and you have ever second-guessed a paycheck, this is for you.

Where it is now

The calculation engine is now fully implemented and 100% unit-tested. We have a logic-only core that handles all 14 pay categories with no guesswork.

The repository is now connected to GitHub with active CI. The foundation is set to start building the mobile UI and the Supabase-powered backend.
